Red Ribbon Celebration Concert Debut

This June, Marina Rebeka makes her debut appearance at the annual Life Ball Red Ribbon Celebration Concert, hosted at Vienna’s historic Burgtheater. The theme for this year’s benefit is ‘Orpheus and Eurydice,’ and the evening’s programme will highlight excerpts from Monteverdi’s and Gluck’s operas about the mythic tale, along with works by Mozart, Liszt, contemporary soul music, and writings and other selections from Ovid, Ingeborg Bachmann and more.  Net proceeds from this event, taking place on June 10, will be donated directly to support international HIV/AIDS projects. The concert features a world-class roster of artists, including Thomas Hampson, Luca Pisaroni, Juan Diego Flórez, Yusif Eyvazov, Dianne Warwick, and more. Martin Haselböck leads the Orchester Wiener Akademie for the event; tickets and more information are available via the Burgtheater online.

From Gery Keszler, CEO Life Ball/Chairman AIDS LIFE: “The story of Orpheus shows how love overcomes death and what the power of music can achieve, and therefore, it has a strong connection to the causes Life Ball stands for . . . I am honored that so many of these exceptionally gifted artists support the concert for many years now. All of them contribute that Life Ball’s message is being spread among friends of classical music and theater.”
