‘Guillaume Tell’ at The Metropolitan Opera

Marina Rebeka returns to The Metropolitan Opera this autumn, for the first of two engagements at the company this season. She sings Mathilde in Rossini’s epic Guillaume TellOctober 18, 21, 25 & 29 and November 2, 5, 9 & 12. Later in the spring Ms. Rebeka will star as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni.

This new production of Guillaume Tell, featuring a stage direction by Pierre Audi, is the first time the opera has been produced at the house for more than eighty years. Gerald Finley sings the title role, and Bryan Hymel is Arnold (John Osborn sings the role on November 2), with Maestro Fabio Luisi leading the Met Opera Orchestra and Chorus.

Past critical acclaim for Marina’s portrayals of Mathilde across the globe:

“… Marina Rebeka’s ravishing, resonant soprano is heard to arresting, often impassioned effect as Mathilde.” (The New York Times)

“Marina Rebeka impresses as Arnold’s aristocratic Austrian lover, Mathilde, a part she comes close to realising perfectly from both physical and vocal points of view.” (Classical-music.com, BBC Magazine)
