On June 24, Marina Rebeka stars Violetta alongside Placido Domingo as Germont in Verdi’s La traviata, following the duo’s success in the roles earlier this season at Valencia’s Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia. Of Ms. Rebeka, Maestro Domingo commented at the press conference, “She is one of the best Violettas I’ve heard in 50 years.” Violetta is one of Marina’s signature roles, and she has performed it a myriad of times at the world’s most prestigious opera houses, including The Metropolitan Opera and the Wiener Staatsoper. For this performance, she is joined by the Pannon Philharmonic; Joshua Guerrero sings opposite her as Alfredo, and Eugene Kohn conducts. The event is a part of the Pécs Festival, which features four opera-themed performances. This will be Marina’s Hungarian debut.
