The duets with the tenor, the incandescent final trio (what high-pitched thunderbolts), the aforementioned “Bolero,” sung with enchanting elegance, an elegiac rendition preciously embroidered on the breath as well as chiseled on the accent, with the rapturous cadence, of “Arrigo! Ah, parli a un core” contributed, as did all of his interventions, to an outstanding performance…”
